Thorncroft Vineyard is the birthplace of many of our products every year, with acres of elderflower blooming each spring creating a scene of natural beauty across the valley, awaiting their harvest for your enjoyment. Our nettles are also allowed the freedom to flourish all year round with only the early young fresh shoots of spring being used for our nettle cordial.
Steeped in history and tradition, our farm is detailed in the Doomsday Book and was originally bequeathed by Thomas Merton (of Merton College Oxford) in 1268.
With elders playing a significant part in the natural habitat of Surrey, they form much of the local hedgerows. In 1985 Guy and Sheila started to harvest the blossoms to make the cordial and so was born a new beginning for the farm as the UK's first elderflower plantation with over 35 acres of elders being planted and allowed to thrive in their natural habitat. Every spring the creamy blossoms colour the valley, and fill the air with their fragrance, ready to be captured in every bottle of cordial we make for you to enjoy.
